Rock Jocks, Book 1

“You’re going to be the death of me.”

“Then I better make it worth it.”

Ty never planned on sleeping with his biggest climbing idol, but when he gets the chance, is he really going to say no?

As a teen, Ty idolized Elijah Reed for coming out publicly. Now Elijah is here watching Ty climb, and it’s everything Ty fantasized about as a young climber searching for his place in the sport. Elijah might be older than him, but Ty won’t let this man slip away that easily.

When Ty invites Elijah out to dinner, Elijah actually says yes, and Ty knows this is his chance. Elijah could be a lot more than a distant climbing idol if he’d just let Ty get close. But the mere mention of competitive climbing seems to open an old wound. Elijah clearly wishes he was still competing.

Why can’t he?

They could have it all — climbing, each other, even a relationship. That is, if Elijah will let Ty in.

Climbing to Believe is a high-heat, low-angst MM sports romance with an age gap, rock climbing adventures, an idol/fan dynamic, spicy open-door scenes, and a HEA.

Excerpt:

His toe caught. The surface he found to stand on couldn’t have been larger than a marble, but the rubber of his slightly pointed, down-turned climbing shoes clung to it like it was as wide as a six-lane highway. Some of the weight and pressure came off his hands as he shifted his weight onto that tiny, tenuous foot.

Elijah peered up the face of the boulder. The sun was starting to creep over it, glaring right into Elijah’s eyes. He squinted, blinded, body trembling, hands and feet screaming for relief as they perched on razor blades made of rock.

It was the greatest feeling in the world.

If Elijah weren’t gasping for breath, straining every muscle, he’d be whooping with pure joy. There was nothing like being on real rock, nothing like the bite of a boulder, the grit of a fleck of a foot, the strain of glimpsing the crest of the climb but not knowing if you’ll manage to reach it.

He had only seconds before his body gave out. Climbing a boulder was generally a sprint, not a marathon. And this climb had pushed his body to its limit. He’d fallen off dozens of times — not just today, either. Elijah had battled this particular foe many, many times already. He’d never yet won.

Today, a mere foot of rock stood between Elijah and victory. There was no reward awaiting him, no prize or glory to be gleaned. Nothing but the pure intrinsic need to conquer his own limits.

Doing so would require Elijah to push off of that marble-sized foothold and propel his body upward. He’d only get one chance. Once he started moving, there was no way he’d be able to reset. The momentum would rip him right off the microscopic crimp holds keeping him twelve feet off the ground.

“Come on, Elijah,” someone shouted beneath him. “Stay with it.”

Several other voices joined in shouting encouragement up to Elijah. Elijah couldn’t spare a look down at the climbers both rooting for and spotting him, but their words pushed him to give this final move his all regardless. He knew that if he missed he was in for a long fall, but the climbers on the ground had set up large crash pads so he could land safely. And they would spot him so he fell only on those pads and not on the hard ground. Too often, missing or misplaced pads resulted in broken ankles and other injuries, but the folks with Elijah today were all highly proficient climbers with years of experience spotting each other outdoors.

If only things outside were as simple as they were in a gym. There was no substitute for real rock, for sun and air and nature. But Elijah did have to confess that climbing in a gym was sometimes nice simply because the entire floor was made of these squishy crash pads. Injuries weren’t impossible, but they were certainly more rare.

He shook himself, mentally, at least. This wasn’t the time for doubts. This was the time for single-minded focus.

He gazed up again. Even though the sun blotted out his view, he could tell where the rock above him ended. It wasn’t far to the lip. He just had to go for it. Off tiny holds. Twelve feet above the ground.

Come on, he thought. Don’t give up on it. One move.

If I fall, I’m screwed, a voice answered, a voice that had been growing ever louder over the years.

Strom Front, Book 1

eStormfront

In a remote village, a man named Azaiah goes wreathed in flowers and smiling to the sacrificial altar, willing to die to keep his village safe from plague. But the Harvester has something else in store for Azaiah, and it isn’t the shores of the world beyond that await him…but the cloak and scythe itself. Being Death means a long life that nevertheless requires a connection to humanity, and Azaiah learns that corruption awaits those who do not find a mortal companion to keep them tethered to the world. He finds it in Nyx, a soldier from an ancient empire and an adopted son of the Emperor, whose soul burns bright enough that Azaiah is certain immortality won’t be a burden but a gift.

But then a shocking betrayal changes Nyx from a gruff soldier with a kind heart to a man bent on vengeance, swearing fealty not to Azaiah, but his sibling, Ares. With Nyx set on destroying the empire that was once his home, Azaiah is dangerously close to losing himself to the corruption that threatens those who lose their tether to the mortal world.

Nyx once loved the Empire and the family that took him in, but when the perfidy of his adopted brother results in a tragedy beyond his ability to bear, Nyx wants nothing more than to burn the world in his wake. Turning from the quiet, intriguing Azaiah toward the promise of bloody vengeance, Nyx gives his vows to Ares and watches the empire he once served fall into ruin. But as the years pass, vengeance is a cold comfort, and the man who is now called Glaive is determined to save Azaiah from being lost in the dark.

STORMFRONT is the first book in the IMMORTALS DESCENDING series, featuring gods in search of their eternal companions.

Corrupt Cupid, Book 2

They called him Vicious… I called him mine.

Sebastian St. James was more mystery than human…

His timid, feeble disposition contradicted the violent rumors that surrounded him. He wasn’t a murderer… but they were afraid of him, anyway.

I was fascinated by him and the cautious way he hid his face. His hands trembled when somebody stared too long, and he was wary of speaking.

Secrets burned beneath his skin, and it was my job to expose them all. Bit by bit, I was tasked with tearing him apart until there was nothing left but the truth.

The funny thing about the truth? There’s always two versions, and it was Sebastian’s version that made me bleed.

I no longer wanted to wreck him. I wanted to protect him.

They called him Vicious… but it was me they should’ve been afraid of.

Corrupt Cupid, Book 4

What started off as nothing more than a product to them quickly became everything to me.

Each Friday is the same. I drive a borrowed truck to a warehouse to pick up a delivery. The back of the truck stays locked at all times, and I never look inside no matter what. These are the rules I must follow without any mishaps.

Nothing can go wrong. Until it does. The curiosity I usually fight against ends up winning when I’m stranded in the middle of nowhere. Something calls my attention to the back of the truck and once I cut the lock, there’s no turning back. I can no longer lie to myself when I finally see what I’ve been delivering.

One look at the frightened, beautiful man crawling out of the dark, and all the rules are shot to hell, and so is the promise of my family’s safety. I can’t walk away no matter how hard I try. The heartless man I’ve allowed myself to become in order to keep my loved ones safe now feels too much, and I can no longer finish what I started.

Is Paxton really worth the risk? Can I keep him safe from the men who are after us? Most importantly, can I protect him from myself?

It won’t stop me from trying. They want him and will keep coming until they get what they’re after.

Him and everyone else keep forgetting one very important detail, the only person he belongs to, is me.

Interspecies Alliances, Book 3

“He gets under my skin like a splinter. Like shrapnel.”

Leon Hess has just started a war. As the Resistance’s new leader, the only thing that matters to him is driving out the Klah’Eel forces that have occupied his home for decades. He will do whatever it takes, pay whatever cost, deploy whatever tool he must.

But his best tool, the one that makes everything possible, is also the man he can’t bear to look in the eye.

Sebastian is a torvar—a parasitic worm physically capable of body-hopping at will and morally capable of body-stealing with impunity. As the most hated and feared of all races, instead of living a quiet life hiding his nature, Sebastian chose to out himself and use his considerable skills to fight for the land he loves.

But no matter how hard he works himself or how often he risks his life for his country, for the Resistance, for Leon Hess, the man won’t even acknowledge him!

As the war rages around them, Leon and Sebastian will be forced to settle their differences, to form an unstoppable team, and to sacrifice more than they ever imagined.

The Alien Infiltrator is Book 3 in the Interspecies Alliances series and features pining, power dynamics, and plot. It takes place right after—like, right after—The Alien Bodyguard and contains cameos and spoilers for the Bodyguard’s couple (and its big plot twist).

TAI Teaser 4

Excerpt:

“THE SMOKE-SMELL IS NEVER GOING to come out of this room.”

Leon Hess rolled out his map of Southern Tava onto the huge, sturdy table in the center of the room. “Open a window, then.”

“Yeah, obviously, but that’s not going to be enough.” Joan picked her way through busted furniture and chunks of plaster and threw open all the windows she could reach—even the broken ones.

Leon ignored her and grabbed a few things to weigh down the curling edges of his map: half a chair leg, a couple hunks of rock, the used canister of a smoke grenade. Once the map was spread out beneath him, he surveyed it with his hands braced on the table. He pulled a red pencil from his pocket and tapped it a few times on the wooden surface. He took a deep breath, swallowed, stood up straight, pulled his shoulders back, and then tapped it a few more times on his palm.

“Did you cross it off yet?” Garrett strode into the room, and his exuberant voice with his still-there rural accent bounced off the bullet-pock-marked walls. He had a cut over his forehead that had been bandaged but needed to be redressed.

Leon shook his head. “Not yet. I was just about to.”

“It’s just a mark on a paper, Garrett.” Joan tsked but still came to watch as Leon again leaned over the old map—marked up with various colors of lines, Xs, circles, and words—and poised his pencil over the dot labeled Ralscoln.

Then Leon slowly and deliberately circled the city and wrote: Retaken.

Garrett let out a whoop, and even Leon allowed himself a small, tense smile. He stared at the words for a second, letting them sink in.

Joan put her hand on his shoulder. “We did it.”

Leon showed her a slightly less tense smile and nodded. “For now.”

Garrett clapped his hand down on Leon’s other shoulder and stared at the map with a grin. “Finally! Well, this was fun. I gotta go see about the barricade.”

“Garrett,” Leon called to him before he left. “See who of the soldiers are ready to move to the front. We can only give them another day of rest. This is just getting started.”

That sobered even Garrett. The younger man nodded crisply and disappeared out the ruined doorway.

Joan sighed and moved around to the other side of the table. They both trailed their eyes up to the northern edge of the map, and eventually, Leon pointed to the numerous small circles in green ink dotted throughout the continent.

“What’s the status of all the orbital and atmospheric guns?”

“We managed to take maybe eighty percent of them?” Joan pulled a pen from her pocket and started making small marks next to some of the circles. “So we don’t exactly have air superiority, but we can definitely blast any Klah’Eel ships out of the sky that get within Southern Tava air or orbit space.”

Leon raised his brows and nodded. “That’s better than I expected.”

“Yeah, I was pretty proud of us, actually.”

“And what about all the other cities?”

“No surprises there.” Joan pulled out another color and started marking the continent’s scattered small cities and towns. They were numerous but minor—Ralscoln far outstripped them all in size. “The Klah’Eel in each one with a Resistance cell will be too busy fighting our people to help out the main force. And any of the cities without a Resistance cell never had enough Klah’Eel to be a problem anyway.”

Leon watched her mark which cities had the most fighting and which were already primarily held by them or the Klah’Eel. The people in the cities outside of the main thrust of the war would simply have to hang on and hope for the end of it. But Leon knew from experience that hanging on was never simple.

Leon turned his attention to the line of cities along Southern Tava’s northern border. “Tell me about the cities at the front.”

Joan tapped her finger over Yol, Kaston, and Loral.

“Yol doesn’t have enough food stockpiled to defend against a siege—some of it got ruined when a ship’s water tank leaked,” she said. “And Loral doesn’t have enough ships to support an evacuation if we lose it.”

Leon nodded and knocked a knuckle against the table’s wood as he leaned over his map. He glanced up at Joan when she didn’t continue. “And what about Kaston?”

Joan made a face. “There’s just…some interesting intel coming out of Kaston.”

Leon straightened. “What sort of interesting intel, Joan?”

“Some of the inventory numbers don’t line up.” She crossed her arms and pursed her lips. “Some of the operations have been randomly foiled by a stray patrol. Things like that.”

Leon’s jaw clenched. “Traitor.”

“No evidence.”

“But you have a bad feeling.”

Joan nodded. “I do. I want to send Sebastian.”

Leon’s heart jumped, and a sensation skittered over his skin as though his entire body had been jolted by electricity just by the sound of that name. He shoved the excitement out of the way and internally scowled at his reaction. “Alright. When he gets back. What else do you have for me?”

“That’s it for now. I need to go see how my agents are settling in. We found the security room, so we’ll set up base there.”

“Good. I’ll be in the barracks.”

Joan left, and Leon took another few moments to stare down at the map and the red mark he had just made over Ralscoln. He shouldn’t have been the one to make that mark or to order their black flag hoisted over this building. He shouldn’t have been the one to claim the capital of Southern Tava for the Resistance.

It should have been the former owner of this map. It should have been Farlon.

And it should be Farlon that would stand on that balcony two doors down that looked out over the courtyard and announce their victory over the invaders…once it finally came.

Leon swallowed around the lump in his throat. But it hadn’t been, and it wouldn’t be, and it all fell on Leon now. And he was doing it.

He pulled his shoulders back and strode out of their new war room and into the grand hallway. The capitol building of Ralscoln, and indeed the entire city, was grand for what had once been a largely forgotten frontier city of the Human species state. It spoke to the pride of its inhabitants. Their pride in their sovereignty, and their ability, and their independence.

It had survived the Klah’Eel invasion and occupation, largely intact, and remained a symbol of the people who had been here before and were still here.

And it would survive the Resistance taking it back.

Leon surveyed it as he walked to the office wing they had converted into a barracks. The damage was cosmetic, not structural. As soon as they repelled the Klah’Eel’s attempts to retake the continent and established their independence on the intergalactic stage, Leon would make sure they poured resources into reestablishing this symbol.

Leon was ruminating on that day and what it would take to get there as he crossed the courtyard of the U-shaped building when he caught sight of a figure by the barricade entrance. He stopped short, as though a string attached to his chest had pulled taut at the sight of that figure and prevented him from going anywhere but toward it.

The physical body didn’t draw him in—Leon found the sight of the klah’eel former governor of Southern Tava repellent—but the way it moved. Leon would recognize that grace, that cocked hip, those rapidly moving hands, and that toss of the chin anywhere. They dragged him in like a moth to a flame.

Book 2: The Alien Bodyguard

The_Alien_Bodyguard_Final

Scarred lips resting on polished tusks…horned eyebrows over electric orange eyes… He was breathtaking.

Oliver Turner has been given one last chance to regain his rightful position by his father’s side running the family corporation, but he can’t keep his eyes off his klah’eel bodyguard. Oliver wants the man with an intensity that both scares and shocks him, and he’s terrified of letting the desire pass him by after being so afraid for so long that he’d never desire a man again. But Oliver has spent his whole life chasing the love and approval of his father, and he can’t let that slip through his fingers when he’s so close.

Captain Mal’ik can’t believe that the yearning, longing scent pouring from the beautiful human man he’s been assigned to protect is for him. Mal’ik has been a soldier for decades and bears the proof of it in his mangled face and metal arm, surely the prissy, brilliant young man can’t want him of all people. And yet, the way Oliver Turner looks at Mal’ik makes him feel like he could be so much more than just the scarred tool of an empire.

As Oliver and Mal’ik wrestle with their surprising and unfamiliar feelings, the tense political situation surrounding them explodes into chaos. They will both be forced to make choices they never thought they’d make. Is it even possible for them to choose each other?

The Alien Bodyguard is a steamy M/M romance with an HEA, set directly after the events of The Alien Emissary. Reading Emissary isn’t required but it is highly encouraged, as Bodyguard does contain spoilers for Emissary, and includes all of Emissary’s main characters.

Thomas Elder
When I took the position as vocal professor at Lakeview Unversity – I knew I was giving up my performing career. I loved being onstage, but I craved security, and not being broke – so I walked away from singing and into the not-so-fabulous world of being a college professor. I had finally settled in and was excited about my second year of teaching when a jock with an attitude walked into my vocal studio. The thoughts running through my head were not the kind of thoughts that a professor should have. I don’t know whether I should fail him or kiss him! But the real question that’s haunting me – why can’t I get him out of my mind? It’s like he has some kind of power over me. I hope it’s not… No! It can’t be!

Darren Peterson
My friends think I’m crazy to switch my major to music. But they don’t understand that music is as much a part of me as being Lakeview’s star soccer player. I’m not going pro, and the last thing I want to do is be a coach. I like making music. I’ve been a DJ since high school and making my own mixes gives me a high unlike anything else. Except… My vocal teacher. He’s a total geek! He likes opera, and old classic books and film. I bet he’s never even seen a superhero movie. But I can’t stop wondering what my hands would feel like against his skin. I’m nowhere near ready to settle down, but the smell of him makes me question everything.

Handsome man posing

Love in No Man’s Land Series, Book 1

Mal

I thought I was good with my life in No Man’s Land. Truth be told, I was, until I messaged Bear.

What started as an onlinedebate about coffee vs wine, has become something so much more, it doesn’t even matter that I don’t know his real name and have never seen his face. My daughter doesn’t agree.

She wants me to find someone “real” before she leaves for college, so when the neighborshot brother rolls into town, she’s less than subtle about my single status.

Bobby is a free spirit, man in every town, according to his sister, but that’s not really him. He’s fun, adventurous, kind, and he’s a fantastic flirt, so when the similarities between Bear and Bobby start to align I can hardly believe my luck.

Can my online crush really be the guy next door?

Bear

I never wanted to come back to Nomanland, traveling the world is everything to me, but the money has almost run out and I’m in desperate need of a sponsor that doesn’t make me cringe.

My sister thinks I’m crazy for not wanting to settle down, and when I told her about chatting online with Mal she basically gave me the whole catfish creeper tv-special warning and begged me not to try to meet him for real.

Not that Mal would want to come to Nomanland. I can’t see what this small town has to offer anyone, that is until Michael takes it upon himself to show me the beauty of this town I’d chosen to forget.

Michael owns the local café, he’s a fan of puns, is an amazing dad and loves travel, though he’s never actually been anywhere… just like Mal.

I tell myself I must be crazy, because if Michael really is Mal, how long has he known? Was Meg right? Did I come back to Normanland just to get my heart broken, or could Mal really be the happy beginning I never knew I needed?

Sneak Peek – Chapter One:

Mal

And that’s why you never take directions from a man wearing a coconut on his head.

– Unfiltered Earth.

I stare at the screen, but no matter how many times I read his latest post I have no idea what to comment. I open another tab, do a quick search for coffee puns, and find one that doesn’t completely suck.

Now, do I post it publicly, or in a private message? The first time I messaged Bear, I’d thought I was sending a private message. Little did I know, my long rant about how coffee is better than wine was posted publicly under an image he posted of a wine glass.

Ooops?

It gained a lot of comments back from other followers, and luckily, he thought it was hilarious, shooting me a private message afterward to thank me for the boost in engagement.

I still don’t understand how there can be so many social media platforms. I’ve only just wrapped my head around Facebook and Instagram and now Jess is Tweeting and Tiktoking and Discording. I shudder thinking about it. It’s not that I can’t use technology, I’m only in my forties, it’s that I’m not really interested in it. I don’t want a million ways to share everything about myself with the world, and I don’t see the need to replace my phone just because a new shinier version is available when the old one works just fine. Or works well enough for phone calls, at least, which is what a phone is for right?

Jess barrels down the stairs, rounds the banister in a leap, and lands beside me. “Hey, Dad. What are you still doing up?”

Do I tell her instead of doing the books for the cafe, I’d spent the last half hour on my laptop rereading the latest Instagram post from the man I’m crushing on? Really, I spent most of that time trying to figure out what to comment back.

“Did Unfiltered Earth post again? It’s been a week, right? That’s forever for him. Is he okay?” She leans over my shoulder to check out the post for herself.

“He was given bad directions to a local waterfall and spent three days lost in the jungle before an old woman and her goat found him.”

“Oh my god, you can’t make this stuff up it’s that good. Did he get to see the waterfall?”

“Really, Jess?”

“What? You would think after three days he would have at least found it himself on accident. So, did he?”

I scroll up to the top of the post to a photo of Bear’s hand holding a makeshift leaf cup, toasting a brilliant waterfall. This is one of the reasons I love using my laptop for anything internet, Bear’s images are amazing on the larger screen. It totally has nothing to do with the images on my phone only loading twenty percent of the time.

“See? Told you,” she says then heads for the kitchen.

I quickly click the account name then hit the message button and send Every latte thing is going to bean all right.

I should close the computer and head to bed. I have to be up at six to roast coffee beans before the cafe opens at eight, but I can’t pull myself away from the messages. It never takes Bear long to reply. Not anymore. And a few minutes later the three little dots appear. I hold my breath. It’s crazy. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be staying up late, hoping to read a message from an almost stranger who I’d never even seen, I would have made them a double shot and told them to wake themselves up.

But here I am. Three blinking little dots holding my complete attention. Bear isn’t even his real name. I don’t know his real name. It isn’t on his Instagram anywhere and a few Google searches resulted in nothing either.

Having only ever seen his beefy arms in his photos, and his posts about his adventures and survival, I made a joke about him being the unfiltered Bear Grylls and he changed his handle to it in our private chat a few days later.

BEAR: Did you like the cup? I think I did okay, given the fact I’d slept out in the open for three nights and the third was next to that waterfall. Fun story—I’d pulled a stack of large leaves off a tree to lay on so I could sleep close to the falls because the ground there is mostly rock. Little did I know the leaves attracted some small variety of sugar ants and I woke up covered in the tiny fucks. They didn’t bite, but those things got into some interesting places.

A laugh escapes me and I cover my mouth, imagining the places he means and wishing his photos showed more than his right hand. A few months back, his whole right arm made it into the shot. The slightest peek of a blurred tattoo on his shoulder did too. It was the most I’d seen of him, and I’ll tell you, seeing his entire toned arm stretched out over a canyon, a glass of red wine in his hand, was way hotter than I would have ever thought it could be. From what I can tell, he isn’t body builder huge, but the vein that popped from his bicep made me want to see more.

I lean back in my chair and glance toward where Jess disappeared into the kitchen. It isn’t that I’m hiding my chats with Bear; Jess is the one who showed me how to private message instead of posting on the feed or whatever it’s called. But our chats at some point have become more… personal. He knows more about me than most of my friends. Like how I’m freaking out completely about Jess going off to college at the end of the year. She couldn’t know that. She’d try to make it better—or worse—she’d stay.

I quickly type my reply.

MAL: I thought the leaf cup was particularly inspired. Maybe I should start calling you MacGyver? How did you get rid of the ants?

BEAR: Ha. Please. I got more skills than Dick. Waterfalls are colder than you’d think. You see all these movies of lovers going at it under a waterfall and think, that would be hot as fuck, but not this waterfall. I swear there must be a glacier on top of this thing chilling the water to just above freezing. My cock and balls never retreated so fast in my life. I won’t go into details about how I coaxed them back out.

I choke back my laugh. How do I respond to that?

I turned off my activity status so he can’t know I’m still active in the chat, but he will know I’ve seen his message. Hopefully, he just thinks I’ve gone to bed. I should be in bed. But now all I can think about is the cold water dripping off his muscled arms, and him trying to warm himself back up. There are plenty of non-sexual ways he could be referring to, but my mind isn’t going there. My mind wants to wander to the ways he coaxes his balls back out.

I should really go to bed.

The microwave dings and I close the lid of the computer just as Jess appears with two mugs of hot chocolate.

“Don’t stay up chatting all night with your friends, you’ve got a busy day tomorrow,” she jokes, placing a mug down on the coffee table in front of me before kissing my head and heading back to her room.

Oh, how the tables have turned.

I grab the mug and the computer and do the same, hoping by the time I get to my room I’ll know what the heck to reply with. I decide to keep it simple.

MAL: Sounds like my average Friday night here in No Man’s Land. I swear it’s been a year since my last date.

What I call No Man’s Land, is actually Normanland, a tiny town west of Knox County. Seventeen years ago, it seemed like a nice, quiet place to raise Jess. Over the years it’s grown into a thriving tourist spot perfect for romantic escapes and destination weddings. I’m not complaining. The tourist trade is what saved my beans all those years ago. When the craft shop closed beside the small bakery cafe I half own, my business partner and I bought it for a steal, opened up the wall, and bam. Bigger footprint, bigger business, bigger bank.

BEAR: It’s been a while for me too, and not just because I’ve been lost in a jungle. Where are the hot, half-naked men those tribal documentaries promised?

MAL: No idea, but if you find them, send them to No Man’s Land. I’ll show them a real friendly welcome.

BEAR: How friendly are we talking?

MAL: It’s been a reeeeeally long time.

BEAR: So where is this No Man’s Land you speak of? I might make a detour and see this really friendly welcome for myself.

I sit up, almost spilling my hot chocolate over the keypad. Is he serious? We’ve joked before about meeting up or chatting for real, but not for this. The image of his muscled arms wrapping around me and his rough hands trailing from my chest down to my cock has my dick twitching.

MAL: One day I’ll tell you where I live and then you’ll have no excuse not to visit.

I follow up with a quick second message ending with my usual coffee pun meaning chat later.

MAL: I’m off to bed, chai latte.

Then I close the browser and head to the shower to relieve the ache in my balls.

Formula Q is the fastest motorsport in the world. Only the highest-performing athletes can make it to the grid. They drive fast, work hard, play hard, but off-camera, anything goes.

The public knows me as Damon ‘The Speed Demon’ Davidoff, eligible bachelor and winner of FQ titles around the world. Fans adore me and my team supports me. They don’t need to know I’m so deeply in the closet I intend to bury myself there.

Then my poor health caught up to me and my world came crashing down. I could bounce back easily if it weren’t for one little complication: my male nurse is attractive as hell.

I can suppress these feelings during the season break—I have to. I’m not going to expose my secret just because when Rocky puts his hands on me I feel a fire coursing through my veins.

As the weeks go by, I somehow let Rocky under my skin and into my heart. He’s smart, sweet, and everything I never knew I needed.

I thought I wanted a clean bill of health and to keep winning my races. Now, for the first time in my life, I want so much more. I want him, and damn if that isn’t the scariest thing I’ve ever felt.

Excerpt:

I try to hide the affection on my face. “You know, it’s illegal to give your nurse a bribe.”

He rolls his eyes. “Well, it’s not illegal to give my friend a gift. Now open it.”

I reach in and pull out what looks to be a large black box. “What is this?”

“It’s a digital sketching tablet, along with some software for digital art.”

“What?”

“If your PC isn’t compatible, you can return it; I included the receipt. But I was thinking you could start, you know…doing this professionally. Or just practice. Rocky, I know you’re good enough to make online comic art.” I look up at him and see he’s scratching his ear and looking away. “Or, um, you…you don’t have to,” he stutters.

“Damon, this is…” I stare at the hardware in my hand. This would cost me a fortune. “This is too generous!”

“Do you like it?” An odd mixture of hope and fear is in his eyes; it makes me realize how much power I have to hurt him right now, not that I’d want to.

“Damon…I love it. But you shouldn’t have!”

“I wanted to. Because…” He doesn’t finish his sentence. Instead, I fling myself at him and hold him tight. He hugs me back, and it warms me up from the inside out. He smells like hot cocoa and something else entirely—it might be too soon, but he smells like comfort and home.

Before I can pull away, Damon holds me tighter. When he finally lets go, he lightly brushes his lips on my cheek. I’m frozen in shock and feel my heart try to escape my chest. “Well, goodnight.” He quickly gets in his car and speeds away.

I put my hand on my cheek and feel the ghost of his kiss. I don’t know what it meant or what’s going on in Damon’s head. All I know is this Christmas, everything has shifted between him and me. It’s like there’s no solid ground when I’m around Damon Davidoff—just me, floating and falling all at once.

The King’s Delight

The King's Delight Cover

Tales of Lilleforth, Book 1

King Leopold of Lilleforth rules his kingdom well. He’s handsome, intelligent, and charming. It’s no wonder the neighbouring kingdoms are eager to provide him with a princess to marry. There’s just one problem—Leo has no interest in princesses. His tastes tend more towards handsome young men who enjoy a good spanking.

Felix Hobson left the kingdom of Lilleforth as a teenager to train as a groom. While he was away he learned a lot, and not all of it had to do with horses—although riding crops were definitely involved. Now an adult, Felix is home to take up the position of royal groom, where he hopes he’ll have plenty of opportunities for a roll in the hay.

When Felix mistakes Leopold for a horse thief and attempts to seduce him, Leopold is delighted by the irreverent, attractive lad, and sparks fly. Their arrangement is all fun and games, right until they both fall hard and fast. But while what they have together is a delight, there’s no way it can last—can it?

They’ll have to navigate a visiting princess, an assassination attempt, and a kidnapping if they want a chance to find out.

Excerpt:

It wasn’t all that uncommon for like to be attracted to like, and most people didn’t seem to care what other people did in bed, but it wasn’t something Felix had ever explicitly shared with his father either. He stared at the ground as he walked, his chest tight.

Janus gave a noncommittal hum, and when he spoke there was no judgment in his tone. “I had wondered. A good-looking boy like yourself, living in a kingdom the size of Fortescue, yet your letters never once held any mention of romance.” Felix risked a sideways peek and found his father regarding him with a soft look. “It’s all right, son. You’re in good company.” Janus lowered his voice. “Royal company, if the stories are to be believed.”

Felix almost stumbled over his own feet at that. “How do you know that?” he asked, intrigued. “Has the king said—”

His father chuckled. “Nobody has said a word. The castle staff have been the very soul of discretion, as they always are when it comes to lovers. But I didn’t become the captain of the guard by failing to see what’s in front of my face. And the fact is the king has turned down seven marriage proposals from princesses in surrounding kingdoms in the past two years since he took the throne.”

“That doesn’t mean anything, though.”

“Not on its own, no. But very occasionally I’ve admitted young men to the castle for private meetings with His Majesty, and I do not believe that there is any business so urgent that it needs to be discussed in the king’s bedchamber at midnight.”

“There might be other reasons. Maybe it’s espionage and he’s meeting his spies.” Felix wasn’t sure why he found it so hard to believe that the king held the same inclinations as him, but even considering it made his heart flutter in his chest.

“Yes,” his father said drily. “Pip, the baker’s lad, is highly trained in espionage. That must be it.”

That startled a laugh out of Felix. They approached the small side door to the castle that led in through the wet room and laundry area to the kitchens. “Fine. Your explanation makes more sense.”

It was cool inside the stone walls, the shade a welcome relief from the midday sun, and Felix and his father both splashed cold water on their faces at the washbasins that were set on a wooden trestle for just that purpose. Janus wiped the sweat from the back of his neck with a damp cloth. “You keep what I’ve told you quiet, mind,” he said. “Not because it’s wrong, but because it’s nobody’s business but the king’s.”

Felix nodded. He could be discreet when the occasion called for it. Felix had no desire to jeopardise his father’s position by failing to hold his tongue. Besides, if anyone could appreciate the freedom a little privacy afforded, it was him. Still, he was glad he’d shared with his father today. It meant that if whispers did get back to him about Felix bedding the occasional lad around the castle, at least his father wouldn’t be too surprised.

“Are you moving into your cottage today?” His father’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.

Felix nodded. “I’ll finish moving my things after lunch and then spend the afternoon with the horses.” Felix’s new position as the king’s groom came with his own small cottage adjacent to the stables, and after six years of bunking in shared quarters at Fortescue, he was looking forward to the privacy.

“And when are you meeting the king?”

Felix made a face. “Matty said—”

“You mean His Excellency—”

Felix rolled his eyes. “Fine! His Excellency, Chancellor Mattias Allingdon, says he’ll arrange something next week, but that Leo—His Majesty, I’m trying, all right?—is snowed under for the rest of this week with some sort of quarterly meetings. But Matty also said there’s no rush because Leopold won’t have time to ride this week anyway.”

His father was obviously fighting to hold back laughter. “You really do struggle with titles, don’t you?”

“I swear, they’ll be the death of me.” Felix let out a frustrated sigh. “Maybe when I meet the king, I’ll just nod and smile and stay silent.”

His father did laugh then. “I’m remembering now why we kept you away from King Leopold when he was still only a prince.” He patted Felix’s shoulder in a comforting gesture. “Try not to worry, son. As long as you take good care of Blackbird, I suspect the king will forgive you anything. And Felix? It’s good to have you back.”

He pulled Felix into a rough hug, and Felix returned it wholeheartedly.

It was good to be back.

Felix was looking forward to settling into his new position, getting to know the horses and the other grooms, and being able to see his family more often than his previous annual visits to Ravenport had allowed.

And from a personal viewpoint, now that he was home for good, Felix was in a place to entertain the possibility of maybe finding someone for more than a casual stroll in the meadow. While he’d enjoyed sowing his wild oats over the past few years, waking up next to a different body every morning was losing its thrill, and he was starting to yearn for something more than a fling.

Felix knew that, objectively, he was attractive. His past lovers had praised his long limbs and lean build, his honey-gold eyes and long lashes. There had even been a hasty, filthy ode composed by a lusty bard that sang the praises of his soft skin and thick, dark hair, and how perfect it was for tangling fingers in during a quick rut against a wall. He’d been told he had a mouth made for kisses and sin.

And that was all well and good, but surely there must be more? What he really wanted was to find someone with shared interests that went beyond the physical.

Surely, in a city the size of Ravenport, there must be at least one available man who’d find him attractive and intelligent, someone who would look past his surface good looks and see the person underneath…someone who was willing to while away more than a single evening with him? Perhaps there might even be someone who worked at the castle.

He could only hope.

Come From Behind
By Ariella Zoelle

Come From Behind Cover

Is it possible that Tavish’s fender-bender on a snowy day will lead to him getting romantically rear-ended?

Having a car accident turn into a meet-cute? That definitely wasn’t how I saw my day going.

Because as soon as I collide into the back bumper of a fancy German SUV that costs more than a year of my college tuition, I’m pretty sure my life is over. Nightmares of getting yelled at and sued for what little I’m worth flash before my eyes.

But I somehow lucked out by hitting the nicest guy in Wintervale. Leith is more concerned about me being okay than the state of his ride. Having a stranger care more about my well-being than my last two exes combined has me blubbering in a way that merits getting called “kid” by the older man.

Instead of leaving me for dead on the side of the road like I deserve, Leith is my knight in shining armor who comes to my rescue—albeit on a slightly banged-up white stallion after our little run-in.

If the wreck wasn’t enough incentive for us to get together, the cosmic universe practically shoves me into his arms when we get snowed in, with nothing else to do besides getting to know each other.

Maybe if I’m lucky, he’ll be the one “rear-ending” me in bed tonight.

Come from Behind is a Suite Dreams series standalone side story novella. It’s a super sexy, incredibly swoony, age gap, forced proximity, no angst romance set in the small town of Wintervale that is as sweet and funny as it is hot and steamy.

Excerpt:

Chapter 2: Tavish Hartigan

How was it possible that I had rear-ended a Mercedes driver twice, and he was comforting me? He had wrapped me up in his coat and strong embrace, offering me warmth and sanctuary as I embarrassed myself by sobbing like a scared little kid. I shamelessly clung to him as I cried, never wanting to let go of the man who dwarfed me with his larger frame. For some strange reason, I felt safe in his arms as he murmured words of reassurance to me that I soaked up.

When my tears had quieted to sniffles, he guided me to gaze up at him without letting me go. “I’m Leith Dennison. What’s your name?”

“Tavish Hartigan.” I sniffled as I gazed up at him with wide eyes. He looked like a dashing Prince Charming in the snow with his dazzling smile, brown hair, and green eyes. “Why aren’t you mad at me?”

His smile was so gentle and reassuring that it eased some of my panic. “Like I said, the roads are shit right now. Accidents happen. It’s just a car.” He stroked my hair like I was a beloved pet. “I know a guy who can fix it for cheap, and if it needs replaced, my brother will give me a steep discount since he owns a Mercedes dealership. Insurance will cover the cost either way, so it’s not worth being upset about.”

“You’re not rich?” I regretted the question as soon as it was out of my mouth, but the sound of his laughter filled my soul with warmth.

“Not even a little.” He continued chuckling. “I’m a self-employed book cover designer who drives for Ryde part-time. If my brother owned a Honda dealership, I’d be driving one of those instead of a Mercedes.”

Hearing that driving was part of his job made me feel awful. “But you won’t be able to work until your car is fixed because of me!”

“It’s not that big of a deal. Working as a Ryde driver isn’t my primary source of income. It’s more the thing I do to pick up some extra spending money and get out of the house to enjoy human interaction whenever I’m bored. A few days off while they repair the car won’t impact my ability to pay my bills. With the roads being so bad, I wouldn’t be working as a driver, anyway.”

I sagged with relief. “Then I guess it’ll just be my parents who want to kill me for wrecking the car.”

“Trust me. The only thing your parents will care about is that the car did its job of keeping you safe. As long as you’re okay, they won’t care if it’s totaled. Vehicles can be replaced. You can’t.”

Now that I had calmed down, I saw the wisdom in his words. I had a close relationship with my folks, so he was right about them being more worried about my safety than the car. Without thinking, I buried my face against his chest as I hugged him tighter. His sandalwood cologne was masculine, comforting, and arousing, all at the same time. I wanted to wrap myself up in him like a blanket and never let go. “Thank you. I’m sorry for freaking out.”

“Don’t worry about it. You’re fine.” He held me closer as he rested his chin on top of my head. I had never been happier to be so short. It was wrong of me to soak up his kindness and comfort after I had rear-ended him twice. However, months of being single after getting out of a toxic relationship left me greedy. It was a nice preview of what having a strong, older boyfriend would be like. And I loved it.
