Wounded Winger Ebook

The Nickel City Bandits, Book 3

Hockey’s a dangerous sport, and injury is part of the game. I can prepare for it and expect it to happen.
What I can’t prepare myself for is another kind of injury, one I have no experience with.
A broken heart.
I couldn’t prepare myself for the adorable nerd I fell for, hard and fast.
I couldn’t prepare myself for what followed.

Predicting chemical reactions is a whole lot easier than human ones.
In fact, I can’t even predict my own reactions most days.
Including hurting the one person I’d come to care for the most.
I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with a hockey player.
I wasn’t prepared for how much it would hurt.

Wounded Winger is Book 3 in the Nickel City Bandits series of standalones. It involves an adorable chemistry loving nerd and a spreadsheet loving jock, with themes of insta love and second chances, stock market dirty talk, foreplay in an aptly named restaurant and life changing choices.

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway: Dear Mr. Brody by A.M. Johnson

DMBebook (1)

For Him, Book 3

Parker,

I never meant for any of this to happen, to fall for you. It doesn’t matter that we’re both adults, or how much we want this to work. The college policy is clear. I can’t see a way around this without one of us getting hurt. If I would’ve known who you were when we met online, I would have never pursued a relationship. I’m new to all of this, and besides my daughter, getting to know you has been the best thing to ever happen to me. But I can’t make you hide again. I won’t. It’s not fair to either of us.

Deepest regrets,

Donovan

****

Dear Mr. Brody,

You’re right, we are adults. I’m twenty-four years old, and I think I can decide for myself what’s best for me. If this is about you losing your job, I’ll walk away. But if this is you trying to protect me, then you’re an idiot. I want you. I care about you. My past isn’t an issue. What we’re doing… it isn’t the same thing. If we have to hide, so be it. I’m not ready to let you go.

Your Lost Boy,

Parker

Special Release Excerpt:

With Anne only a few feet away inside, I should have stopped him. But my heart was all over the place, the adrenaline in my system overriding my common sense. He cupped the back of my neck, his firm fingers releasing all my anxiety as his lips tasted mine. I fisted my hand in his t-shirt, closing the space between us, and he backed me into the door, smiling against my mouth when I groaned.

“Hi,” he whispered before pulling my bottom lip through his teeth. “As much as I love a good public display of affection, are you going to invite me in sometime tonight?”

I rested my forehead against his. “My daughter is here.”

“No shit?” He dropped his hands from my waist and nearly fell off the porch as he tried to put as much space between us as possible.

“Lanie tried to call me, but I was in the shower, and I didn’t check my phone.” I raked a hand through my hair. “She has to work, and her parents are sick. I didn’t know what to do, and I wanted to call you, but—”

“Breathe,” he said, his lips lifting into a lopsided smile. “It’s not the end of the world.”

“You’re right… We can have dinner another time.”

But now that he was here, I didn’t want him to leave. Why did my life have to be this goddamn complicated?

“Oh… sure, yeah… another time,” he said, shoving his hands into his back pockets.

“Wait… do you want to stay?”

“Why would I want to leave?” he asked, his smile playful. “I’m capable of keeping my hands to myself long enough to have dinner with you and your daughter. I’m not a total heathen.”

“I thought…” I stuttered. “Isn’t it too soon?”

“To meet Anne? That’s up to you.” He exhaled, his hands falling to his sides. “I can’t make that decision.”

When Lanie and I had separated, I worried Anne would get attached to her mother’s boyfriends. Not in a jealous way either. I didn’t want a revolving door of people coming in and out of her life while Lanie and I tried to live our own lives. But Anne didn’t have to know the specifics of my relationship with Parker. She was ten. And as long as Parker and I were appropriate, she’d think he was one of my friends.

“I’m not ready to come out to Anne,” I said. “But, if you’re okay with being in the friend zone while she’s here, I’d love for you to meet her.”

“I can handle that.” Parker took the bottom hem of my shirt between his thumb and forefinger, his candid blue eyes searched mine. “Can I be honest?”

“Please.”

“I love kids, don’t get me wrong. But I’m nervous. What if I do something I shouldn’t, like swear or—”

“I swear all the time. Lanie and I have never been PG-parents.”

He laughed and leaned close enough I could feel his breath on my lips. “It’s going to be hard not touching you tonight.”

“It’ll be good practice for tomorrow when we’re in class.”

“Can I kiss you again before we go inside?”

Pulling me into his strong arms, he pressed his chest against me as I nodded. My heart thundered, a shiver spreading over my skin as his mouth melded to mine. The kiss was messy and fast, and when he pulled away, I licked my lips, savoring the sweet taste he’d left behind.

“Do you like mushrooms?” I asked and he laughed, the deep rumble of it vibrated against me.

“Not particularly.”

“What about waffles?”

“Who doesn’t like waffles?”

I smiled, his answer lifting the weight off my shoulders.

“I think you and Anne will get along just fine.”

Littleford Fowl, Book 1

After an unstable childhood, Jensen Malone’s hard work is paying off: he’s picked up as a temporary goalie for the Littleford Fowl, brought in to cover for a player who’s out for the season with an injury, and he’s been accepted at the community college. Hockey is his first love, but he needs to stay true to his dream of being a firefighter to guarantee he’ll never be homeless again. Now that he has the chance to pursue both, nothing can stop this fiercely independent transplant from Chicago. One little problem: he’s gay, completely unwilling to stay in the closet, and hockey’s not the most inclusive sport.

Lawrence Paisey’s a defenseman for the Littleford Fowl and he’s got the brooding new goalie in his sights. The guy’s excellent in goal and has a love of hockey to rival Law’s own. Together they could whip the team into shape. Despite his studies and hockey, Law can’t stop fantasizing about Jensen. One little problem: Law needs to win Jensen’s trust to make his dreams come true.

Join Law and Jensen for a hockey-heavy exploration of college, friendship, and one another. HEA guaranteed.

Excerpt:

They weaved through the crowded room, finally finding a table against a wall. Law slid into the seat closest to the wall and Jensen sat across from him, almost immediately picking up the salt shaker and shuffling it across the slick surface of the table between his hands. It made Law smile, and he leaned forward, resting on his forearms. “It’s like we’re kids on our first date or something. I feel all giddy.”

Jensen squinted at him and leaned forward. “Huh?”

Law tried again, clearing his throat and speaking a tiny bit louder, not wanting to yell across the table. “I said it’s like we’re—”

Jensen got up and moved to sit next to Law, plopping down and retrieving his salt shaker to resume what he’d been doing, peering at Law as he did. “Couldn’t hear you over the noise in here. What?”

“Uh…” Law hesitated and then made the best of it. “I said it’s like we’re kids on our first date. I feel sort of giddy, and you’re over here talking about décor, and no one knows what we should talk about or what to do with our hands, and yeah… I feel like I’m thirteen again.”

Jensen pursed his lips and then shook his head a little, pushing the salt shaker away. “Same. I have no idea what to do with myself. It’s stupid.”

Law shifted in his seat, pinning Jensen with his most intense gaze. “If no one else were here, what would we be talking about?”

“Dangerous territory, dude.”

“Ohhh-ho-ho!” Law grinned at him and sat back, stretching, unable to resist preening a little after that comment. Jensen stared at him like he was something absolutely delicious, and it felt damn good to be looked at like that. Leaning forward again, he gave Jensen his best sensual look. “Hold that thought for later.”

“You think I could possibly forget it?”

“So you do want me, then?”

“Pretty sure we established that already, but if it strokes your ego, yeah, I do.”

About the Author:

01

I’ve been writing fiction for over sixteen years and technical pieces even longer than that. I began my adventure into fiction within the world of fanfiction and have longed for years to make something I could spill out into the world as fully my own.

While I’ve written other short pieces, I truly wanted one work that I could call a full novel. I’ve put my entire self into writing this book and spent the better part of a year honing it into the novel I’ve presented here.

This book is a culmination of a dream for me, and I can only hope it touches someone the same way it touched me while I wrote it.

To anyone aspiring to write, I tell you do it. To anyone thinking you can’t, you can.

I suppose you came to this section looking for something more about me though, didn’t you? Well, here’s what I can tell you. I’m married to my high school sweetheart. We have two cats, a dog, and a turtle that somehow became ours over the past few years. I love animals, nature, reading, writing, and photography. Quite clearly, I also enjoy the hell out of hockey.

By trade, I’m an engineer who is presently doing database administration, coding, and reporting in support of the company I spent my late teens and twenties dreaming of working for. By hobby, I still write fanfiction. I love to game: Dungeons & Dragons, board games, video games, you name it.

Photography-wise, I love taking photos of landscapes, animals, and architecture. I enjoy doing macro photography of plants. Once upon a time, I aimed to be a professional photographer under this same name and did multiple photoshoots with local models.

As with most authors, I collect pens, notebooks, books, and everything that inspires me, so my life is a little cluttered, but that’s okay.

I end with this… dare to dream, dare to hope, and most of all, dare to be who you truly are.

Ice King Cover

Gemstone Kingdoms, Book 1

Every Winter Solstice, the Emerald Kingdom sends the dreaded Ice King a sacrifice—a corrupt soul, a criminal, a deviant, or someone touched by magic. Prince Reardon has always loathed this tradition, partly because he dreams of love with another man instead of a future queen.

Then Reardon’s best friend is discovered as a witch and sent to the Frozen Kingdom as tribute.

Reardon sets out to rescue him, willing to battle and kill the Ice King if that’s what it takes. But nothing could prepare him for what he finds in the Frozen Kingdom—a cursed land filled with magic… and a camaraderie Reardon has never known. Over this strange, warm community presides the enigmatic Ice King himself, a man his subjects call Jack. A man with skin made of ice, whose very touch can stop a beating heart.

A man Reardon finds himself inexplicably drawn to.

Jack doesn’t trust Reardon. But when Reardon begins spending long days with him, vowing to prove himself and break the curse, Jack begins to hope. Can love and forgiveness melt the ice around Jack’s heart?

Ice King Promos

Excerpt:

“Jack, is it? Far better than ‘Ice King,’ I suppose.”

The king frowned.

“I’ll call you Majesty until we trust each other. But on that day, I will call you Jack.”

“Is this a game to you?” The Ice King straightened. Reardon stood almost directly before the throne now, chilled and shivering but without any creeping frost on his hair or clothes. “What do you hope to accomplish?”

“My father is wrong for what he does, but seeing this curse on you makes me wonder if he is right about magic’s corruption, despite all the wonders it can do.”

“Magic alone did not curse us!” the king roared. “One person who wielded it did, and I brought her wrath upon me myself.”

That gave Reardon pause. There was so much he didn’t know. “You could tell me your story.”

“It is a long one, little prince, and I grow weary of your presence already.” He stood, crunching down the steps between Reardon and the throne and bringing a gust of icy wind with him.

Reardon sensed how close he was to death but stood his ground. “I only want to bring my people home.”

“And where are they supposed to go? Home, you say. The thief who almost lost her hands because she was starving, the man who lusted after the wrong noble’s son, your friend who has visions—do they have a home to go back to when their own people cast them out as villains?”

I didn’t.”

“Good for you. You only cared once it finally affected someone you knew.”

Reardon’s fists clenched to be called a heartless coward, but he’d called himself worse this past year.

He also couldn’t overlook the example of a man and a noble’s son.

“I suppose you’ve taken in all the corrupted, haven’t you?”

“You call them corrupt”—the Ice King stomped another clawed foot closer—“yet ask for leniency?”

“I only speak as I was taught. I don’t agree with it. I don’t believe they’re corrupt. Not any of them. I don’t want to. If my father understood—”

“He’d still keep up the status quo. Your kingdom shuns what they don’t understand because of my curse, yet they don’t even remember the time before.”

“So tell me! Let me know the truth so we can learn from our past instead of continuing to repeat it.” Reardon stepped forward—too close, he knew—but like before, instead of reaching out and ending him, the Ice King backed away. “You’d really let them all go, wouldn’t you? If they wanted it?”

“They don’t, but you are welcome to ask them, including your friend.”

“Then I am not a prisoner either?”

“That is up for debate.”

If Barclay had seen Reardon’s death in his vision, it couldn’t be now. Not yet. “Give me the chance to prove I will go back and change things for the better. I’ll stay for as long as it takes, but once you believe me, once you know me and I know you, let me go.”

“And what if I never believe you? You’re the prince. You could bring an army to my door after learning my secrets.”

“If you never believe me… then you either have another servant or another statue to crush. But that means you take an audience with me every day.”

The king scoffed, turning to stomp back up to his throne and throw himself onto it with an elegant ease that should have been impossible. “Sounds frightfully dull.”

“Yes, I can see your calendar is quite full.”

He rumbled with laughter like a brewing winter storm.

For a long stretch of minutes, he stared at Reardon with his uniquely human eyes—different from his companions. The Ice King was more tied to his humanity, even if he’d lost the feeling of it in his heart, and more cursed and tortured because of it, perhaps.

Yet still he said, “Fine. But make no mistake, little prince, if you prove unworthy or attempt to betray me, I will not hesitate to turn you into frozen rubble like that thief.”

All Reardon could do was return his stare and wonder—What was this curse? Why had it been cast? And what had the king been like before it changed him and his kingdom? He had to know, even if a mysterious and frightening future stretched out before him.

Love, death, and blue eyes in a sea of white.

Whatever that might mean.

“You have a deal, Your Majesty.”

Special Cover Reveal Excerpt:

“So what are we watching?”

Rafe drops onto the cushion next to mine, and I hate that he can’t do something as simple as that without my breath catching. Someone needs to turn the hose on me.

“Dunno. There has to be a series or something that looks interesting.”

“You want to start a series with me, Rafe? Wow. That sounds like a big commitment, and I’m not sure our relationship is ready.”

He blinks at me.

I grin. “Kidding. Obviously. Carry on.”

He’s quiet as he scrolls through the options, and I notice him glance at me from the corner of his eye a couple of times.

“What?”

He jumps at being caught. “Just thinking.”

“About?”

“Whether your mouth has always been so out of control.”

“There’s a lot about my mouth you don’t know.”

Rafe shakes his head. “I walked into that one, didn’t I?”

“Less walked and more steam rolled, but yep.” I adjust my baseball cap, then point at the screen. “You’re still as indecisive as ever.”

He huffs and tosses me the remote. “You choose.”

“Fine.” I hit play on some Sci-Fi show he’d hesitated over.

We get through most of the first episode before he speaks again.

“Is this weird?”

I know he’s talking about us. Being here. The space between us. So many things are rolled into that one question that I hesitate on how to answer at first.

“Oh yeah.” Might as well agree. “I think we’ve well and truly passed that line.”

“At least it’s not just me.”

“Why do you think it’s so weird? We spent most of our lives together, but for some reason the last few years are the ones that seem to count.”

He frowns. “I don’t think that’s it.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, I think they only count, because the ones before them counted more. Maybe. Does that even make sense?”

“I think so.”

“Like …” He tugs at his hoodie sleeve, looking unsure. “Even though this feels weird, I’m still glad I’m here.”

That smooth motherfucker. This is a serious conversation. I shouldn’t be smiling. I shouldn’t. “Me too.”

“Which makes it weirder.” He lets out a frustrated sound. “Shouldn’t I be making excuses to bail, instead of wishing things could go back to how they were?”

Every word he’s saying lightens some of that pressure on my heart. Maybe we’re not doomed. Maybe our friendship really can be given a jumpstart.

“I wonder if your need to be here is the same as mine.”

He looks up at me, pinning me with those dark eyes that I can’t stop dreaming about. “Which is?”

“I missed you.”

Chapter One Excerpt:

Reykjavik, Iceland

The Age of Barbarians

He wasn’t here.

Julian’s frown deepened, turning into a bitter sneer as he lightly stroked his harp. They said he would be. He plucked the strings with a little more force than necessary, gazing around the room.

It was sophisticated, cultured, with many of the high courtesans bringing food to the men. Music was played with transcendental skill and grace. Even the poetry was read with eloquence, brought to life by dancers so fluid they moved hearts and spirits alike.

Madame Zelina would expect nothing less.

Yet he wasn’t here. The arctic demon. Rumor had it that his tastes were more sinister. The brothels entertained nothing more than seedy inhabitants, built for the gaudy Þrælar soldiers and filled with wicked men, no doubt a haven for all Þrælar.

Fucking bastard. Julian struck his chords violently, tugging expertly on the strings to bring the attention in the room back to him. Julian’s body was angled, hands and neck relaxed, as it connected to the soundboard that braced against the tension of the strings.

The chatter stilled. All the soldiers turned to him in awe. Even in silence, the harp was divinity, a musical instrument that called to men like sirens in the abyss. They said the harp was the voice of angels, created by Zathos, god of the stars. To Julian, it was the serenity of the forest, the light through the boughs, the everlasting sweetness of his mother’s smile.

The sound was soft like flower petals, vibrant hues heard by the soul. Julian moved his hands over the instrument, imagining himself as an artist with a palette and brush, creating clusters of explosive color, bursts of exceptional rays of assimilated beauty.

The arctic demon. A tumultuous mane of blond hair and blond freckles on skin that was as white as a new page. He was a dream from an Icelandic gem, born of the green lands and wheatfields. A demon at best and a wayward barbarian at worst. A stark killer feared by everyone in the Titan Vale.

And he wasn’t fucking here.

Julian clenched his teeth, strumming the chords with his eyes closed in fake rapture. Damn him. After all the work they had gone through, it had been all for nothing. The song slowed, trailing off like a raging fire simmering into ambers.

The soldiers looked stricken, their gazes wide, enchanted, as Julian stood from his seat and gave a short, stiff bow. They applauded him immensely, showering him with praise and admiration. Julian swallowed the shouts as he would hot coals.

Thankfully, it was over now.

Malicious Gods: Egypt Series

Lev lives for death.

Tainted from birth, despised for sacrificing fellow Servants of Maahes, Lev pursues a life of devotion and abstinence as the Left Hand. His reward will come in the Afterlife.

Živan Bratko, bastard heir to a Bulgarian crime family, lives in the moment, rescuing big cats and slaking his lust with even wilder men. He can’t resist the challenge of corrupting one of the legendary Hands of Maahes.

A hedonist versus a devout assassin. Who will be hunter or prey when lives and souls are the ultimate stakes?

A dark contemporary mm story featuring a collision of cultures, manipulative main characters, assassins, kidnapping, and hungry lions.

Welcome to the dark world of Malicious Gods: Egypt. A collection of standalone modern tales, both magical and non-magical, featuring deities from Ancient Egypt. You’ll find reincarnated Gods, assassins, gangs, madness, and different realities. Expect high heat and morally ambiguous themes. Seductive and often twisted, they are not for the fainthearted.

Special Release Excerpt:

Bratko’s face screwed up in pain, and the men pressing around him cheered. They’d all been urging on the other man, Gulliver, anyway.

Lev knew he should back off, should wait somewhere less obtrusive, but he didn’t. The only thing he could do was resist taking his hard cock in his hand. He couldn’t even blame the men pressing around him for his lack of movement, they were close, but he could worm his way out if he wanted.

Instead, he stayed, watched, and got harder.

“Want some help with that?”

He turned, looked up at a heavily bearded man wearing a leather harness.

“Touch me, and I’ll rip off your balls.”

The man nodded towards the room they’d been watching. “Well, I’m game if you are. I’ve never tried that, but it looks like fun.”

Lev’s gaze was pulled back to the playroom, and the heaving, thrusting man on top of Bratko. Sweat-slicked, lightly haired skin, flushed faces, and small, powerful movements. After focusing on where the two men joined, his gaze moved along Bratko’s muscular body. Face pressed to the blue flooring, mouth open as he panted in pain, no, that’s pleasure, he loves it.

As if he could feel Lev’s gaze, Bratko looked right at him, and his eyes widened in recognition. The spell holding Lev vanished, and the world came crashing back in. The club was too hot, the people too close, pressing in on him, drowning, pushing him under with their lust, their sinful flesh. He shoved backward, ignoring the disappointed calls of the bearded man for him to stay.

Lev almost stumbled on the steps of the club.

“You ok, mate?”

All he could do was bob his head, once, twice, at the two leather-clad men leaning up against the wall smoking. He needed to get to his car, needed to breathe air unpolluted by others.

“Did some fucker not do aftercare?” One of the men came towards him. “Come on; you can’t go wandering about alone when you’re in sub drop.”

Lev had his balisong out before he could think about it.

The guy held his hands up. “Ok, calm down, let’s talk about this. If someone did something you didn’t–”

Lev ignored him, headed for his car.

Emma is the #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of m/m series such as Lies, Paint, Incubus, and Malthusia.
Born in Hungry Bottom as an unexpected twin, Emma was destined to be a little different. She blames her rebellious muse (who looks like Chris from the Paint Series) for the erotic aspects tickling the angst, and the humor cuddling up with the erotic. No matter the genre, you can expect different characters, dark themes, steamin’ sex, laughs, and a HEA or HFN.

If going to church every Sunday with the Ladies Society is what it takes to polish his reputation, he’s all in. But when every secret fantasy in his head walks into the stables at Muddy River Ranch, the straight and narrow path he’s on takes a wild detour. It never felt so good to be so bad.

Micah has been one of the biggest porn stars in the world for five years, but he’s burned out. His body won’t cooperate to film even one more scene. He sure as hell isn’t looking for a fling, and he wants nothing to do with Henry, the fanboy who works at Ben’s ranch.

Excerpt:

Micah

Joshua started the line moving. Micah was working up his nerve to get on his horse when Ben rode up. “Hey. You wanna stay behind and help Henry clean up?”

Micah blinked. He noticed Henry was over at the grill, spreading the coals out. “Uh… sure.”

“Good stuff. Charlie’ll take Ranger and Clive back, so y’all can bring the truck along when you’re ready. Happy trails.” Ben winked at Micah and rode off, taking the rear position in the line of horses. Within minutes, they were out of sight, and it was just Micah and Henry.

They’d already packed the leftover food back into the coolers in the truck bed. Micah wiped down the tablecloths, folded them, and put them in the truck. They dumped the leftover ice and put the few leftover drinks in the truck too.

“What else do we need to do?” Micah asked, hands on his hips.

“Just take care of the fire.” Henry took a shovel out of the truck and went over to the campfire. It was still going pretty good.

“Wait. You’re gonna put it out?” Micah asked.

“Yup.”

They both looked at the fire.

“Kind of a shame,” Micah said. “Wanna hang out for a minute? Or do you need to get back?”

“Nah. Everyone’s probably left by now. We can stay for a spell if ya want.” Henry hadn’t looked at Micah much as they’d cleaned. Now his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed, highlighted in the flickering firelight. Micah liked that Henry was a little nervous. A tingle of anticipation stirred in his belly. It was a good feeling, one he hadn’t had in a long time.

“Let’s stay,” he said quietly.

“Okay.” Henry tossed down the shovel and sat on the closest log to the fire. Micah sat down next to him.

“It’s nice out tonight,” Henry said hesitantly. “Did ya like the ride-and-dine?”

“It’s the best. Are the guests always so nice?”

Henry thought about that. “Pert much. Once in a while, you get a guy who gets a little drunk and rowdy. But nothin’ Joshua can’t handle.”

“Hmm.”

“Wanna beer?” Henry asked.

“Yeah. That sounds great, I was eyeing them earlier,” Micah admitted with a grin.

“Well, we’re off duty now.” Henry got up and fetched them both two cold bottles. When he came back, he sat closer than before.

The first swig struck Micah’s throat with an icy, bubbling hit that was pure pleasure. “Fuck. That hits the spot.”

“I’ve given up a lot of things, but beer? Never gonna happen,” Henry said.

They drank their beers, the night quiet around them except for the crack of an ember now and then. The fire died down until it held just enough glow that it wasn’t pitch-black out. But it was pretty dark.

There was something comforting and intimate about the dark. The air was soft and warm, curling around Micah like a caress. Henry’s presence was large and solid on his left. He couldn’t make out many details, though, which meant Henry couldn’t see him well either. At the thought, excitement sparked in Micah’s belly and a slow heat spread through his groin.

Shit. Why was that such a turn-on? Who cared? It was just nice to feel anonymous. To be just a body, just a man. A man who was young and healthy and hadn’t been attracted to someone like this in a long time.

The heat grew and spread. He was hard. He was horny.

He was no one at all.

“Henry,” he said, his voice a croak.

“Yeah?” Henry sounded breathless. Did he feel it too?

Micah reached out his hand and found Henry’s thigh. It was thick and warm under the denim. Micah laid his palm on it, brushed his fingertips along the inseam. Stopped.

His heart was pounding. Henry could shake him off if he wanted. Get up and walk away.

Henry shifted toward him. There was a hint of his eyes in the dark, a flicker of movement as he licked his lips.

“Wanna make out?” Micah asked, trying to sound casual.

“Hell ya.” Henry’s voice was so deep he didn’t sound like Henry anymore.

Tricky Tracks

Holeshot Series, Book 5

Recovery has never been so complicated.

It’s difficult enough to recover from a potentially career ending wreck, but Cole has to do it in front of a camera. Add in that the sexy videographer, Nix, has more than Cole’s tires spinning and it’s more than problematic. Facing the truth and redeeming himself for his past actions is trickier than making a good comeback for a team that doesn’t want him.

Nix Braumere is making a great career out of filming sports stars, and his friend, Jason, has him working on a Supercross documentary focusing on injuries, particularly, Cole Lindt’s. Making the hot racer the star of his show wasn’t supposed to wreck his heart. But Cole’s grouchy front obviously hides a world of pain that Nix wants to ease.

Meet Cute or not so cute…

“Excuse me.” A young man pushed passed us. “I need to check on Mr. Lindt. I’ll be with you after that.” He walked over and examined the machinery. “Okay, Cole. Let’s walk it off.” He pushed buttons on the treadmill and slowed Cole to an easier pace.

“Hi, I’m Jason Gibbons. We’ll shake later. This is my partner and videographer, Nikolai Braumere.”

“Call me Nix.” I never used my full name and had no idea why Jason would throw it out there now. He was one of only a few people who even knew it.

Cole turned his head to look at us. He rolled his eyes. His spectacular eyes. They were precious gems to Jason’s worthless rocks, blue and green with flecks of gold making them seem exotic. When he turned away without a word, I only wanted him to look back. Hell, I couldn’t even really see the rest of his face with the mask on, and I wanted more.

The trainer turned to us, though, and he didn’t look happy. “You’ll have to wait until he’s finished.”

“No worries.” Jason held his hands up in front of him to placate the guy, but he looked at Cole. “Just wanted to drop in and let you know we were here. Vick is meeting with us in a few to go over everything regarding you and this project, then we’ll be your shadows.” He faced the trainer and held up his hands as if protesting. “Not interfering or getting in the way.”

Cole glanced back, taking us in, then graced us with another eye roll. Then he pushed some buttons on the treadmill, jumped on the side boards and pulled the mask off. “I’m done.” He started handing the equipment to the trainer and faced us while he pulled the electrodes off his chest. The trainer set the mask down and started popping off the ones on his back. “I’m not thrilled about this, just so y’all know. I don’t particularly want everyone seeing my training and progress. I’m going along with it because Vick says I have to. So don’t get in my face with your cameras.”

His attitude was something else I hadn’t been expecting. “What about questions?”

“What do you mean?” He turned those amazing eyes on me again. They gleamed against the sheen of sweat covering his face. His hair was a blondish-brown, darker where it was wet. I liked a sweaty Cole, and I felt my energy spike.

“Questions? Will you be willing to answer questions?”

“Like an interview?”

Jason scoffed. “More like questions as we go. If we see or hear something we don’t understand, or want more information about, we’ll ask.”

Those eyes rolled again. “I guess it depends on what you’re asking.”

“We’re not digging for trade secrets, Cole. Can I call you Cole?” Jason asked.

“We’re going to be stuck together for a while, so I guess you better. Now, I have work to do.” He pointed to the trainer who was now openly scowling at us.

“Right. We have stuff to do, too. We’ll see you at the meeting.” I needed to be either out of his cosmic glare or stripping those workout shorts off him. I turned Jason back toward the door.

“Well, he’s a regular bowl of sunshine.”

I snorted at that. “I thought he agreed to this. That sounded like he was coerced.”

Jason shrugged. “There’s obviously something else going on. I knew he was a cold dude, but I didn’t expect that.”

“That? What? You mean his open hostility?”

“Are you talking about Cole or his trainer?” Jason laughed. He wasn’t wrong. They were made for each other, it seemed.

The Groovy Alpha
By Susi Hawke

The Groovy Alpha Cover

West Coast Wolves, Book Four

An omega raised as a wealthy human in the lap of luxury… A Harley riding alpha who rules a pack of pot-growing wolves in a commune… what was fate thinking?

Sky Blackwood is an omega wolf who’s only ever lived a fabulous, all-too-human existence in the wilds of… Beverly Hills. A place where your best friend will smile in your face while stabbing you in the back if there’s money or fame involved.

His Gramps told him all about fated mates and the old-school shifters who still live in packs, but those were just stories. Until they aren’t. Sold by his family, Sky’s saved from the auctioneer’s block by Devon—a sexy alpha wolf who looks like surfer Thor, drives an even sexier Harley, and smells like everything Sky never knew he wanted.

If fated mates are real, what if all those other stories about packlife are as well?

Sky feels like he’s on the best adventure ever as he learns to live like a shifter. With Devon’s help, he’s ready to settle into the peaceful commune life. Only problem? Even paradise can be a camouflage for something darker.

Having grown up among people who hid their evil behind friendly smiles and designer clothes, Sky soon realizes Devon needs help if they’re to survive the unseen threat. He’s not worried, he was taught to “handle people” from the cradle, a few hippies with criminal intentions shouldn’t be too difficult, right?

The pack’s problems are easy to fix, but his real issue… not so much. What exactly is expected of an omega and how is he supposed to actually do it? Fortunately, his mate’s brothers know a few omegas who are all too happy to help.

The West Coast Wolves is an mpreg series about five alphas. A small pack of bikers who spent years riding the highways and helping those in need until fate gave them each a pack to lead. This 78k full-length novel is Devon’s story. Prepare yourself for a dual pregnancy, an omega discovering his power, and more giggles than are appropriate during violent scenes. But then again, this is a Susi Hawke book, so what else can you expect?

TGA Teaser 2

Special Release Excerpt:

Even if it smushed my hair, helmet head was worth every exhilarating second I spent riding on Devon’s motorcycle. Also, I didn’t hate having to wrap my arms around his waist or leaning against that broad back while we rode.

We didn’t go far, but then he’d told me we wouldn’t. Apparently he didn’t like to get on the highway without being dressed for it. Or as Devon put it, even wolves can get road rash. Personally, I was waiting to see him in his leathers.

I’d watched every season of Sons of Anarchy and hadn’t missed the fact that I was getting my own real-life Jax. Only without the drugs and arms dealing. Although… he did say something about running a pot farm.

It occurred to me I probably shouldn’t find that idea as hot as I did, at least not while I was shoved up so close he could feel my erection. Not that I had any control over it, sitting on a powerful, vibrating sex machine on two wheels would get anyone hard.

Also? His scent was doing funny things to me. He smelled like a true California boy, all ocean breezes with a rich, nutty undertone, kind of like the walnut groves upstate where my gramps had grown up.

Mostly, he smelled like… mine. Like I’d come home after a lifetime of being lost in the wilderness.

Shit, look at me getting all poetic. My friends would eat me alive over their brunch mimosas if they ever heard the sappy stuff running through my mind. I pushed those friends to the back of my mind. They were part of the human world. If I was starting this new adventure, becoming part of a pack, I should probably begin by embracing my wolf and putting my human life behind me.

At least… the human part that’d lived in the city. I was going to be a country wolf now, dammit. Hmm. That called for a new wardrobe, I’d have to ask Devon about proper farming attire. My thoughts were still swirling when Devon pulled into the parking lot of a chain hotel I recognized from TV commercials. God knew I’d never stayed in one, or expected to. Hopefully there weren’t bugs.

New life, new adventure, remember? Don’t get snobby, it isn’t becoming.

Besides, if my nearest and dearest in my wealthy world had sold me like a used car, why would I want to be like them? Nope, I was going to embrace my Gramps’s philosophy of life—keep an open mind, park my privilege, and embrace change. He swore happiness could be found in the smallest things, now I guess it was time for me to find out if that was true.

After we’d pulled off our helmets, Devon hooked a thumb toward the glass doors. “Holiday Inn okay with you? It was close, and it’s clean. Better than a lot of places I’ve stayed or would pick for myself, but I want you to be comfortable.”

Choosing adventure with my mate was clearly the correct choice. Would he always be so sweet? When an unexpected emotion threatened to clog my throat, I giggled instead, batting my eyelashes as I went for the flirty response.

“As long as you’re here, I’m down for anything. Past me might’ve cracked a joke, but the guy who just got rescued from being auctioned is too happy and too free to gripe about something that silly. Or like the old saying goes—don’t sweat the petty, pet the sweaty stuff.”

Devon snorted, taking my hand as we walked. “I like you, Sky. You’re a funny guy. Seriously though, I have a feeling you’ve never darkened the doors of a normal motel, tell me I’m wrong. Even in those cheap sweats, you stink of class and old money.”

“Okay, you got me. This isn’t my idea of a proper inn. For that, I’d have to take you to this adorable little chalet high in the Alps. The Swiss couple who own it run a tight but luxurious. But this isn’t the Mountain Inn, and it doesn’t need to be. Just give me a shower, a bed, and your arms—preferably in that order.”

“Now that I can do.”
