I adjusted my sunglasses and leaned back in the lounge chair. The sun felt good on my skin. When I looked over at Xavior again, I noticed his scales. The reflection from the pool touched his skin, and the iridescent properties I’d seen in the shower showed as the light bounced off them. I was in a bit of a trance when Xavior spoke up.
“See something you like, Greg?”
I grinned. “Everything. I really like everything.”
He chuckled. “You’ve had three sips, and you’re already tipsy.”
“I’m not. I swear!”
“Sure, lightweight.”
“Not all of us have the constitution of a dragon.”
Xavior shrugged, then seemed to think of something. “How about a toast?”
I turned toward him. “Sure. You have something?”
“To a wonderful partner two times over. To vacationing in grand style, and to next steps, whatever those may be.” He nodded toward me.
“To more adventures and hopefully a life well lived, together.”
We touched our glasses, then took a drink. This vacation marked the beginning of our relationship beyond dating. With any luck, the rest would come in time.
